A great giveaway Melissa! Something I do to take time out for myself is read, read and read! It takes me away to another world.
Thanks Karen. Yes, reading is my little getaway to a different world too. Good Luck!
You are going to do well mel .. If I can play golf and meet hugh Jackman in the first 3 months of the year .. Anything is possible !!! X
Haha Emma, they are some impressive goals you’ve achieved. Maybe I should put my ‘love’ for Ryan Gosling out to the universe and see what happens! 😉
I like to go to the gym, a workout can often put me in a good space. If relaxation is what I’m after nothing beats a deep warm bath!
Yes a good workout is great Caroline, but I think I like the idea of a bath better! 😉
i love to bake. So to take time for me I get into the kitchen.
Clare, I agree that baking can be quite meditative (providing there are not too many kids around!)
My escape is in the outdoors … anything, a run, a swim, a bike ride … being amongst nature is good for my soul …
Being in nature is the best Lizzie, x
I’ve just hit the other side of the other side of forty. The combo of teenagers and menopause (the Creator was a man for sure) means I need timeout. Meditation is what I do, it puts me in a good place. And I can do it anywhere, anytime. No cost and enormous benefits.
Meditation is definitely on my list to incorporate regularly into my life Kate
I like to do yin yoga each Tuesday evening. It’s a gentle restorative class. And I also have two dogs who make me get outdoors each day, walk in the park and just enjoy the quiet and colours of being in nature.
That yoga class sounds lovely Marilla-and there’s no doubt dogs are great for getting you out into nature
Great give away!
When I take some time out for myself I meditate & focus on my breathing. So calming & simple but uplifting too! X
So simple but so good for us Caroline 🙂
What a gorgeous thing to do for your readers hun. Have a fabulous weekend xx
Thanks Sonia- you too lovely lady xx
I would love to win this for my friend Lou. She really needs someone like you to help her get to where she wants to be. I said to her yesterday, “you have the ingredients, you have a picture of the final product in your head, but you just don’t have the method.” I think you can help Lou find her method! x
What a lovely thing to do for your friend Lou, and I’d love to be able to help her as well- good luck!
I always buy myself a lovely bunch of fresh flowers. They make me happy.
This is something I am going to try and do more regularly too Sheree- I love fresh flowers but don’t buy them often enough
Hi Melissa, I just found your blog via the Weekend link up and as soon as I read that you were helping women over 40 reignite their spark for life, I knew that this was the blog for me! Over the past few years I have tried to reconnect with that very thing, my spark, and for me that is writing. As a teenager, I used to find it easy to put pen to paper and words and poems would flow from my fingertips, a direct portal from my inner soul to the outside world. But time had distorted my sense of self and my words seem buried within the shell of who I used to be! Time lines, commitments and responsibilities seemed to have overtaken the creativity which I used to value as one of my talents. We become what we need to be and the past 20 years had found me to be lots of things, sadly writer wasn’t one of them. I would often read of women my age who had lost their identity and I could truly relate to this sentiment, that I had become merely a collection of adjectives; wife, mother, carer, employee, chief cook and bottle washer! It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy and feel blessed to have these titles applied to me (well, to be honest I would have happily given up the chief cook and bottle washer title!) but I had reached a point in my life where I wanted more, to reclaim a bit of the old me. So I started to write again. I am eight and a half thousand words into my first novel (being a perfectionist makes it a slow process!) and late last year I created a blog called Ordinary Magic. My very first post spoke of my search for my spark and I would love your thoughts on it. Shell.x http://ordinarymagic.me/2014/12/07/the-magic-of-serendipity/
Thank you so much for your comment Shell, our stories sound very similar (except that I have not attempted a novel yet- congratulations!) I will definitely check out your blog, xx
Thanks Melissa.x
When things go nuts around here, my husband pushes my helmet and the keys to my scooter into my hands and tells me not to come back for at least an hour. It’s all very ‘zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance’ but it really takes the edge off. We went and got our licenses together last year and it’s been great for us.
If the weather is terrible though, I’ll go sit in out sunroom with my notebooks (I’ve got a bit of a stationary obsession, hence my excitement about this comp!) and write!
What a great husband you have there Cass! I love new stationary as well, good luck!
I create a mindful morning for myself. I take the time in the morning to wake up a little earlier, so that I can spend some time breathing into my body with yoga and a light meditation. I then spend my time, mindfully preparing my breakfast which nourishes me and prepares me for the day ahead. I write in my journal which grounds me and gives me clarity as well as the freedom to create, dream and set my intentions for how I want the rest of my day to unfold! Thank you for such a lovely competition! X
Jo, that is such a wonderful way to set up your day- I love it.
What a wonderful giveaway Mel (and happy birthday x). I love going to the movies, complete with popcorn of course, but if I need a quick fix nature always does it for me – even if it’s just stepping outside for a moment, and really being in that moment 🙂
Thanks Tahlia. I agree getting into nature, even just feeling the sun on your skin is great to do regularly throughout the day.
Thank you everyone for entering, I really enjoyed reading all your comments about how you take time out for yourselves. The randomly drawn winner of the giveaway is Cass. Congratulations Cass, I will be in contact shortly to organise delivery of your goodies, x
Oh wonderful! I look forward to hearing from you!
